Version of Flash?

In the past few years, the following three different version of Flash have been released.
  • Macromedia Flash MX 2004
  • Macromedia Flash Professional 8
  • Adobe Flash CS3 - just released May 2007
In April 2005, Adobe acquired Macromedia and thus the name change. The videos in this collection were created using the latest version Adobe Flash CS3.

If you have Flash Professional 8, (about 98-99% of the time), you will be able to follow along step by step with the training videos. Almost all the commands are the same, but the commands may be located in different areas. The interface is slightly different, especially the workspace panels that dock and group.

If you have Flash MX 2004 (probably 92-98% of the time), you will be able to follow along step by step with the training videos. Most of the commands are the same, but the commands may be located in different areas. The interface is slightly different, especially the workspace panels that dock and group.

The word Flash can refer to either 1) the Flash authoring/development environment or 2) the Flash player which is free. The training videos in this collection will prepare you for using the Flash authoring/development environment.
